AcuKare is owned and run by Karen Wade. Karen is a Registered General Nurse, and has been for about 30 years. She also trained as a midwife in the 1970's. However when finishing that she then turned to orthopaedic surgery and became a Sister on one of the orthopaedic wards in Worcester. Following on from this position she worked in the Accident and Emergency unit before beginning a career in the Community. Working first as a District Nurse, and then settling into her role as a senior sister in General Practice.

While working as a practice nurse Karen specialised in Respiratory problems, gaining a Diploma in Asthma and COPD care, while continuing to build a busy clinic in the surgery. She also trained colleagues in Asthma and Allergy care, and organised regular updates for medical staff. Karen also trained and again gained a Diploma in Coronary Heart Disease, and also ran a buy clinic in surgery for all the patients with Coronary Heart Problems, advising on treatment care and with the GP organising the necessary drugs.

It was while working for the Surgery that Karen turned her attention to Complementary Therapies, realising that many of the ailments that she helped to treat, could be helped with other less invasive treatments, and so while working in surgery studied at night school for a diploma in Aromatherapy. This led her onto her studies in Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, which she qualified in, in 2004; Karen has been building her own business since then. It is while building her own business that she completed the course in Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture. For which there is a great deal of interest. Karen also trained in Harley Street in order to deliver the Muscle Relaxant injections (Botox/Dysport) and the Dermal Fillers.

Karen lives in Worcester, and is also married to a very understanding husband who has helped and encouraged her through all of the extra studies; she also has two grown up children, both of whom live close by. When not working or studying, Karen enjoys walking, baking cakes and reading a good book.

Karen is an active member of the British Medical Acupuncture Society and The Royal College of Nursing.
