Muscle Relaxant Consultation with Acukare, Worcestershire
As we age, fine lines can develop in areas such as across the forehead, around the eyes and between the brows. These are called ‘expressive wrinkles’ and can be treated with targeted injections of Botulinum Toxin, a well-known muscle relaxant.
Muscle relaxants can only be prescribed following a consultation, to ensure they’re the right treatment for you and your skin concern. Independent Nurse Prescriber Karen Wade offers a free initial consultation and is able to carry out the treatment here at Acukare.

When will I see results and how long will they last?
Results can be seen at around 3-4 days after treatment, and the full effect should be noticeable after 2 weeks. The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles should continue to improve for up to 30 days, and your results can last for up to 4 months.
Do you have any aftercare advice for muscle relaxants?
Try not to touch the treated areas or lie down flat for several hours. Avoid pressure being applied to the area, so don’t rub your face or wear a hat that presses down on the treatment area. Wait at least a week before you have a facial treatment to let the product settle.
How can these injections treat Hyperhidrosis?
They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles beneath the skin, which makes them ideal not only for treating facial lines but also excessive sweating. By relaxing the muscles in the affected areas, the treatment can help you to produce less sweat. Particularly effective areas for this are the underarms and palms of the hands.
Are there any side effects to this treatment?
Some patients may experience slight bruising, numbness, or a rash in the treated areas, but these symptoms should subside within a few days. Topical creams such as Arnica cream can be helpful with the appearance of bruising post-treatment.
What if I have any concerns about my treatment?
If you are worried about your treatment or results, please contact Acukare for support and we will be glad to help. We would recommend waiting a couple of weeks for the full effect to show before returning to your practitioner for a second treatment. This way we can make an informed judgement on whether you require additional treatment.
